Darren Hall – BEng, MBA, CMgr (MCMI), FRSA
Born in 1969 in Kent, from the age of seven Darren grew up in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. He now lives in North Somerset and works in Bristol.
Darren studied mechanical engineering at Swansea University and in 1990 joined the Royal Air Force as an Engineering Officer.
After working in the private sector for 5 years, during which time he completed an Open University MBA, he returned to Bristol in 2001 to work for the Home Office as a crime and drugs manager. He was subsequently promoted to Regional Manager and went on to advise the Government Office South West Board on organisational development.
In 2010 Darren was seconded to manage the Bristol Local Strategic Partnership and was responsible for the publication of the city’s 2020 plan. He went on to work for the City Council to run the Bristol Green Capital Partnership, project managing the team that won the European Green Capital Award for 2015.
He is now a freelance project manager in the social and environmental sector and the Founding Directer of The Pale Blue Dot. Having co-founded Big Green Week in 2011 Darren has recently stepped down as Director of the Big Green Week Community Interest Company. He continues as a board member of the Bristol Community Land Trust.
Married to Charley Pattison, a Criminal Barrister at Queen Square Chambers in Bristol and National Justice Spokesperson for the Green Party, they are accompanied at nearly all times by Zara, the rescued springer spaniel. Darren is a keen surfer, cyclist and photographer whose love of the ocean and the outdoors drives his commitment to the environment.
A member of the Green Party, Darren stood for parliament in 2015 achieving over 17,000 votes in the constituency of Bristol West and stood as the candidate for the West of England metro-mayor on behalf of the four local Green Parties.
